Wow, one month to the day since my last update. OOPS.
Busy time getting back into the swing of things with school starting and my routine changing.
Not too much is new on the creative front...did several projects that I need to update with...I'll start with the most recent from last night ;)
I remember my mom making 'cinnamon swirl bread' all the time when we were growing up...only she didn't use the 'short cut' dough making method I use, a la bread machine. I don't know why I don't make this more often, it's so easy...literally, a ball of dough from the dough setting, rolled out, sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon and rolled up into a loaf...let it rise, bake it and VOILA'.
It was great with my coffee this morning.
Lots of posts/projects/news to update with today...hopefully I'll get to them all.

Display at The Black Feather
For anyone local, I was given the privilege of hanging some of my art at The Black Feather Cafe here in Berea.
I'm super excited for the opportunity and to finally 'take the leap' in a local display. If you are in the area, I urge you to stop in...not because of my paintings ;) but because the food, the coffee and the atmosphere is phenomenal.
When we moved from CA a few years ago, the day I finally walked into The Black Feather I felt like I'd *finally* found 'my spot'...it had the feelings of Sonoma that I missed so much. It was cool, chill and whatever the opposite of pretentious is :P. Get a latte'. It's my fave.
Make sure you don't get it to go..take the time to sit and relax and enjoy. Check out the little 'feather' in your foam. Relish the awesome mug made locally, and grab a soup and salad too!
Special thanks to Cecile for giving me the chance to hang stuff...to Thomas, Ashley and Rose for being so awesome every time I come in.

.peek.
A new painting finished...and a peek of something bigger to come.
My 3rd painting in this style, and I feel like I have found something I am completely inspired by and comfortable with. The new ideas mull in my head so much that some nights I can't even sleep...if only large canvas was free ;)
This 3rd piece is going out the door today...not sold...but more on that later!
For now just a peek at it.

.back to school.
So, it's that time of year again....back to school.
My kids are STRANGELY excited about getting back to work at school...(no doubt not 'back to work' but 'back to friends'...)
With that in mind, just sharing the awesome plan Sew, Mama, Sew! has lined up for the month of August.
I am really looking forward to seeing what projects we get to see.
As well, there are going to be tons of giveaways (not just their 'Free Fabric Friday'!!). So, sharing that link for those that may want to get a start on back to school sewing!
Have a great day folks!

.turtle love.
So, once again...a project brought to you by little Liv. She has great ideas (and an insistent attitude.)
First off, the bag 'theme' was liv's idea...she had apparently seen two 'squirrels in love' on one of our hundreds of 'blog reading days' where we sit and look at all the awesomeness that is being created these days...
BUT she is super into the turtles and the oil spill now...and said she 'needed' the bag to have two turtles with a heart between them....her words.
HAHAHA
Overall I am happy with how it came out. We followed these instructions for the bag, making only minor adjustments.
The colors/fabrics/etc. were all Olivia's picking...even though I warned about such a light fabric for the body, she disagreed, and while it looks cute in pictures...having carried it all weekend, it now has some noticeable spots on it...I advised her to go with a print next time :P
What did you make this weekend?? :D
